Looks like Aakash tablet now has some competition to face in terms of price. BSNL has launched three tablets this Friday in partnership with Pantel and one of the tablets is priced only at Rs 3,250.
The three tablets which were launched are priced at Rs 3,250, Rs 10,999 and Rs 13,500. Out of these three tablets, two of the tablets come with Android 2.3 as their operating system and a 7 inch resistive screen. The third tablet comes with an 8 inch touchscreen.
Pantel is a Noida based company. With the partnership with Pantel, BSNL makes an entry into the market for hand-held computer devices. The market as of now is very competitive and is on a road to become more competitive as the penetration of hand held computer devices reaches smaller towns.
The three models launched by BSNL are T-PAD IS701R, T-Pad WS704C and T-PAD WS802C. Out of these three T-PAD IS701R is the cheapest while T-PAD WS802C is the costliest. The T-PAD IS701R is equipped with 1 GHz processor, 256 MB RAM and has support for Wi-Fi. There is a built in memory of 2 GB which can be expanded up to size of 32 GB. This tablet is priced at Rs 3,250 and is expected to give tough competition to Aakash tablet.
The second model launched by BSNL – T-PAD WS704C is priced Rs 10,999. It has 512 MB RAM which is a DDRIII RAM. It can be connected to television set through HDMI.
The costliest model launched – T-PAD WS802C is priced at Rs 13,500. This tablet is equipped with 1.2 GHz processor. It has a RAM of 512 MB which also a DDRIII RAM. This tablet also has a built in feature of Global Position System.
Aakash tablet is currently priced for a price of Rs 2,250 for students and is currently the world’s cheapest available tablet. Datawind, which is promoted by Canadian India, has made entry into the Indian market to provide Aakash. Datawind has tied-up with the Indian Government to provide Aakash to students of India.
With more companies trying to manufacture cheap tablets for the Indian market, the competition between the companies is expected to heat up, while the ultimate gainer due to all these competition would be the end-consumer who would be delighted to have so many options to choose from at a very low cost.
