Apparently, the most famous media player on PC, VLC, is developing its application for the Android platform. Jean Baptiste Kempf, VLC’s chief developer was reported saying this to Gigaom, a tech blog.
The application is already running with iOS. It plays a wide variety of video formats like DivX and Dolby TrueHD. Although there is no doubt that VLC allows one to play all video files requiring transcode or conversion in to some other formats, there is a hesitation while using it on Android as there are many devices that Android can be used on. But the technical team of VLC can take care of that.
This work was in the pipeline since ling but could be moved forward only after Google completed its NDK (native development kit)
