This piece of news was announced by Mr. Kapil Sibal, who is the Human Resources Development Minister of India.
According to Mr. Sibal, “These higher specifications which include 700 MHz Cortex A8 processor, 3200mAH battery with three-hour usage time and a capacitative touchscreen have been necessitated to overcome the initial difficulties observed in the devices.”
During the question hour which is held in the Lok Sabha, Sibal said that Datawind would supply one lakh high speed tablets equipped with better screen and longer battery life.
During the first phase, one lakh of Aakash tablets were given to students in higher technical educational institutes. These acted as a test market for the tablet to know the technical feedback on the operation and the overall usability of the Aakash tablet.
There is a plan to extend the availability of Aakash tablet to school students once the proposed National Mission Education gets funds.
It was also said that once all the production capacities are put in place, the aim of providing Aakash tablet to every student especially that comes from disadvantaged and underprivileged sections of society would get fulfilled.
