Ahvaz Bridge which is currently the longest cable bridge of Middle East was inaugurated recently in Iran in the presence of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the President of Iran.
Ahvaz Bridge is located in the city of Ahvaz in Iran. It is situated in Khuzestan which is located in the Southern region of Iran. This bridge will be the longest cable bridge in the Middle East till date. No other cable bridge is so long as this bridge in the Middle East.
The bridge is 1,014 meters long and has 22 pillars that gives support to the bridge. Ahvaz Bridge would be connecting Zand and Takhte-Soleiman. This bridge is the 8th bridge to be built across the Karun River located in Ahvaz. The bridge is built using the latest technologies and extremely gorgeous to look at.
According to Mr. Mansour Katanbaf, who is the mayor of Ahvaz,” Around 158 concrete props, 150 centimeters in diameter and at the depth of 30 to 46 meters, as well as 22 pillars with a height of 5 to 17 meters have been used in the construction of the bridge. ”
The inauguration of the bridge was carried in the presence of Mr Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the president of Iran. This inauguration was part of the overall process of inaugurating a number of major mega-projects. After the inauguration of bridge, the president was also involved in the inauguration of 10,444 housing units. These housing units area part of Mehr housing project scheme under which these houses built would be given to people with low income.
There were other inaugurations as well after the inauguration of Ahvaz bridge such as sports projects, developmental projects and 1,000 residential units in Andimeshk.
