There has been many stories around the much awaited tablet from the Indian Government. The good news is that all the correct information about the tablet is finally out.
The $35 tablet from the Indian Government is called “Akash”. There were many stories around this tablet before today. But today, it was officially launched by the Government. The tablets would be available at a price of Rs 2,999 (INR) (around US $60). It would commercially be available from November, 2011 to facilitate all the people out there. But, for students, Akash would be available at a much cheaper price.
Akash – Technical Specifications
Akash is a tablet that is based on Android Operating System. It is based on Froyo 2.2 to be more specific. It has a 366 MHz processor and a 256 MB of RAM. It has a sensitive touch screen and has slots for microphone and headphone. Akash has an interna storage capacity of 2GB which is extensible up to a storage of 32 GB.
Akash supports WiFi and can add a cellular modem. It has USB slots built into it, to facilitate transfer of data between multiple devices. All the widely available formats of image, audio and video are well supported by this tablet. It also supports commonly and widely available formats of document to be viewed and edited by the tablet.
