Apple has recently become the second most valuable brand in the world. The first place in the list is no other than Google. This study was conducted by Brand Finance, a consulting firm.
According to the study, the worth of Apple was estimated at US $39.3 billion. This was about 33% more than the value of Apple at the start of the year.
Brand Finance which is a London based company looked at company’s cash flows and many other financial metrics to assess the total worth of its intellectual property and all the trademarks that the company currently holds. At the top of the list – Google had total Intellectual Property worth US $48.3 billion. This worth would increase further after Google bought many patents from IBM. IBM itself stood at the fourth place in the list of most valuable brands of the world.
Third place in the list was acquired by Microsoft. But Microsoft would soon rise from third place to a higher place owing to the change that the release of Windows 8 would bring about. Microsoft is world leader in Operating Systems and its newer version of OS would soon make its market value much more than what it is worth today.
An interesting observation in the list shows that all the top four companies which are listed are all technology related companies. This shows how much technology have been absorbed by human race. Next in the list were companies from other sectors as well including companies such as Walmart, GE and Coca-Cola. There were a couple of banks too that made it to the top ten list of the world’s most valuable brands. These included banks such as Bank of America and Wells Fargo.
