The next generation iPad which is often called iPad 2 and now as the Town is now officially nicknaming it: iPad Too! Is all set to be unveiled on March 2, 2011.
The new iPad will be unveiled at San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Centre for the Arts. The company which is based in California is yet to send invitations for the mega event.
The new iPad is expected to be much more thinner and lighter making it more compact and easy to carry than the older version of iPad. The original iPad was unvealed by Steve Jobs at the Yerba Buena, on January 27, 2011. It was in stores till April last year and has sold more than 15 millions devices so far.
It was one of the STAR products by Apple and by launching a newer version, Apple is trying to shorten the life cycle of the older version of iPad. The new iPad also has more powerful graphics processor and much more memory. It also has a camera fitted in front of it for video conferencing. It will also be having better display features. Some reports also suggest that it would be powered by one of the Qualcomm’s multimode chips and that it would be able to run on both CDMA and GSM based networks around the world.
iPad is manufactured by the Taipei-based contract manufacturer, Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. which said that due to some production bottlenecks, the final delivery of the product can be completed only till June this year and not before that.
Apple has only officially told the launch date of the event as March 2 and nothing more than that till now. We will keep you updated as there are any official announcements. The new iPad will face some tough completion from the new tablets being launched such as the Motorola Xoom and other such devices which would be based on the new Android 3.0 Honeycomb platform.
