Apple , it is said, it planning to update the retail iOS app and will now allow customers to self-checkout for purchases of accessories and other stuff that are available on the store shelf. The sources say that Apple will charge customers for such purchases on their iTunes account.
It is being speculated that the once the customer checks out of the store via the app employees will definitely be on the hunt for customers who have picked up a merchandise but customers can show an email receipt to the employees as a proof of payment.
The basic accessories and small stuff that is easily available on the shelf will not require the assistance of any store personnel but the high value items like Macs, iPads and the likes that are generally store out of site in warehouses can be purchased through the app and the store attendant can just help the customer in picking it up. The payment can be made on EasyPay device to wrap it all up.
This feature of self-checkout is scheduled to arrive on 3rd November. Also, Apple is reported to have facilitated the pick up of merchandise purchased online on the Apple website from its retail stores near customers. This service was open for some stores in San Francisco area and now will be expanded to distant areas.
