This Christmas if you are looking to gift someone a tablet then here is more good news for you. The market just got hotter with the arrival of some new models. These are Asus’s Eee Pad transformer Prime, Amazon’s Kindle Fire, Barnes & Noble’s Nook. The Transformer Prime is the first tablet in the world to be powered by Nvidia’s Tegra3 quad core processor. This is to be priced somewhere at around $500 for a 32GB set and the OS will be Android’s Honeycomb version which will be later updated to the Ice cream Sandwich version.
Two Worlds:
One class is that of hardcore tablets which will give you everything that you ask from it like games, third party apps etc. These are the iPad2, Transformer Prime, and the likes. Other class is of those which are perfect as entertainment gadgets and can be undoubtedly used for playing songs, videos, etc. like the Fire and Nook tablets.
These tablets give you a wide variety of market for applications. The iPad2 has Apple app store, others have the Android market, and some have their own app markets. The more affordable range of tablets although fall light on the wallet, they also deprive the user of some basic features like a camera for clicking photos or for video chatting, limited connectivity and lower processing speed.
The iPad2 starts at $500, Fire at $200 and the Nook at $250. This shows the kind of savings that you can make on the cheaper ones. In spite of the low prices not many tablets have been able to give iPad a tough time. This is also proven by the record sales of iPad- 40 million units since 2010. The Transformer Prime may be looked upon as that one tab that will make Apple think hard about its offering considering that the specs are better and the price is lower for the Transformer Prime.
Meanwhile, the smaller tabs are focused at a different segment altogether since they have no intentions of introducing any heavy duty gadget and they are just looking to provide great content and entertainment.
