There was a bomb blast here in Delhi today (7th September, 2011) at the Delhi High court near gate no. 5
The time of the bomb blast was about 10:30 a.m. in the morning which is peak hour at gate no. 5 at the Delhi High Court. At that time the gate was crowded, as entry passes were being given out here. The place where the bomb was blasted was also an area very close to the parking area.
According to the Union Home Secretary about 9 people have been found to be dead and around 45 people injured due to this blast.
According to the Lawyers, the blast could be heard till Patiala House, which is situated two to three kilometres away. An eyewitness to the whole event, Kavita who was in a Judge’s chamber said that – “The windows rattled”. Another shocked woman who was driving close to Gate no. 5 said that –“It was a powerful blast…there is a lot of blood there.”
The blast was of not of high intensity, so the harm caused was deliberately not so high. All the injured people were taken to the nearest RML hospital.
According to the officials, the explosives were kept in a briefcase near the gate.
This is not the first time that such an even has happened. The security issues with the country should be made more tight to prevent happening of such incidents in future.
