Dinsney recently has acquired Togetherville. Togetherville is a social networking site but this unlike the Facebook is ment for kids of age 10 years or younger.
Togetherville released the it’s beta version last year and this year has been acquired by Disney. Togetherville is very much like the Facebook but exclusively for kids. Here, the kids can connect to their friends. It provides a parent-monitored environment meaning that the parents can easily monitor their kids connections. It thus provides a more secure and safer environment.
Parents can connect with other parents using Facebook’s social graph and also have to approve each of their child’s friends. Kids can login and engage in games, create art, connect with friends, watch movies and much more.
The website’s terms of service states – “Welcome to the Internet sites of the Walt Disney Internet Group (“WDIG”). “WDIG Sites” include Disney.com, ABCNEWS.com, ABC.com, ESPN.com, DisneyShopping.com, Go.com, Movies.com, FamilyFun.com, and other Internet sites on which these terms of use are posted.” Another clue is CEO and founder Mandeep Dhillon’s LinkedIn profile, which now states he is “Vice President, Togetherville at The Walt Disney Company.”
It’s definitely an innovative site but let’s see it’s future in a very secure hands of Disney.
