According to recent reports, the internet search engine giant Google and many of its website including YouTube could be blocked in Pakistan.
This block would be raised on Google as the company is not cooperating with the authorities in conducting proper investigations in incidents related to terrorism and cyber-crimes. The above news was reported by the “Times of India”.
Interior Minister Rehman Malik said that the companies such as Google and YouTube were not supporting the FIA – Federal Investigating Agency to tackle problems related to cyber crime and terrorism. Mr. Malik said that “If Google did not help FIA in future then a case would be registered against it”, and would subsequently block Google and YouTube in Pakistan for non-cooperation.
According to the minister, “The terrorist organizations had used the internet to share information, and it is necessary to curb these activities in the future.”
In a TV channel in Pakistan, Malik also admitted having issued an order of a case to be registered against the administrators of companies like Google. Malik has also received several criticism in the near past from many rights group and civil society for his remarks in Pakistan.
