Earlier today Google accidentally uploaded an overview video of Android 3.0 Honeycomb on YouTube and then withdrew it quickly. The video was recorded successfully before they removed it. Google has now officially posted the video back again and also mentioned a brief overview of the product on their mobile blog.
It is clear that Google was eagerly waiting for Android 3.0 Honeycomb to be launched at CES in Las Vegas.
According to Google, it is the higher version of Android which has been designed from the ground up for larger screen devices, majorly tablets. They say, they had spent ample time in refining the user experience in Honeycomb, and have invented a fresh and unique holographic user interface. A number of Android’s exiting features like elegant notifications, refined multi tasking, home screen personalization with a novel 3D experience, access to more than 100,000 applications on Android Market and advanced widgets will be found in Honeycomb, which are more interactive. They have upgraded the browser too which include tabbed browsing, synchronising Google Chrome bookmarks, form auto-fill, and incognito mode for private browsing
Back in June Google’s work on this renovated UI for Android was reported when they were targeting for the 2.3 Gingerbread release, but that was shifted to 3.0 Honeycomb.
The UI looks impressive and advanced at first glance, which is necessary if Google competes with iPad and tries to win the tablet space like they did the smartphone space this year.
People are excited for the tablet-friendly interface. Google says that the Android fans will have to wait as Honeycomb is not expected to be released this year.
