Google offers its users the feature of multiple sign-in that helps them to toggle between their different accounts in the same browser without going through the cycle of sign-ins and sign-outs. The feature is available in regular Google (@gmail.com) as well as Google App accounts.
The multiple sign-in can be used with Gmail, Google Docs, Google Calendar, Web Search, Reader, and a few other Google products.
1. To Switch Between Multiple Google Accounts
Suppose you are signed into two different Gmail accounts using multiple sign-in. Now how will you switch from one account to other?
The famous option is that you click on your Google address on the Google bar and opt for ‘Switch Account’ from the drop-down menu and sign in to your other account.
Another option is that go to your browser address bar and change the digit in the URL. While using multiple sign-in Google affixes a number to your Gmail URLs. By simply changing the number you can switch to your other account. This is definitely a quicker option.
https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/ - Default account (n=0)
https://mail.google.com/mail/u/1/ - Second account (n=1)
https://mail.google.com/mail/u/2/ - Third account (n=2)
You may also bookmark the URLs to access the accounts directly with a simple click.
2. Setting a Google Account as Default Sign-in
When you open any Google website that has the facility of multiple sign-in, it will sign-in automatically using your default account.
The default account set by Google may at times not be your primary account. In that case you will have to switch to another account every time you open a Google website. But there is a solution to this too.
If you have many Google accounts then you can set an order according to you priority. In such a case you main account becomes the default account (n=0), the next frequently used account becomes the second account in the order (n=1) and so on.
Step 1 – Open google.com/accounts/Logout and sign-out all your Google accounts.
Step 2 – Now go to google.com/accounts/b/0/MultipleSessions. Sign-in using the Google Account that you want to set as default.
Step 3 – Next go to google.com/accounts/AddSession. Sign-in to your other Google account. Repeat this step until you are signed-in to all your Google accounts.
This is it! You will now have a custom signing order of your Google accounts that will save a lot of your time.
