Idea and BSNL both have announced to soon launch App store. Other players that have already done so are Airtel, Vodafone, Aircel and Reliance.
“Using Ericsson’s business model that features Software as a Service, Idea will be able to set up a mobile application market and easily introduce new services to their subscribers. The ecosystem between Idea and Ericsson will support a developer community, thereby bringing richer, more relevant and better applications and games to the subscribers. 84 million Idea customers will enjoy 30,000 applications suited to most handsets and wallets, said the press release.”
Idea is planning to launch its app store based on Ericsson’s eStore solution while BSNL has tied up with Accenture for the same. This would greatly help users for downloading from a wide variety of applications.
Currently BSNL is planning to start with around 3400 applications for its store. Accenture on the other hand is planning to launch its own enterprise store.
Who’s will be the most successful app store, only time will tell. We wish all the above companies all the very best for their app stores.
