Indian Railways is all set to be geared up for the next level. The Railway minister is planning to make all the trains in India to have Wi-Fi connectivity in its coaches.
As a pilot project, the Indian Railways plans to make three rakes of the train Howrah Rajdhani Express fully Wi-Fi enabled in September of this year. This information was given to the Lok Sabha yesterday.
The Minister of the State for Railways said – “It is a satellite-based system using a Wi-Fi for distribution of internet bandwidth in coaches and the likely date for implementation of this system is Sep 25, 2012”. The total cost of the project is estimated to be Rs 6.30 crore.
If railway coaches are made Wi-Fi enabled with good internet facility, it would be a great boon for the Indian society as a whole. Businessmen and students can gain tremendously from this step taken by the Government of India. Connecting to the internet and doing some great stuff is any day better than just sitting and wasting time in a train. What do you think?
