The iPad is fast catching up with rest of the devices sold in the world. We found an interesting data that we thought to share with our viewers.
The figure below shows the Operating System statistics for the month of April in United States.
The above statistics is taken from Statcounter and these are based on visitor statistics averaged from more than three million websites. To provide more clarity, these represent computers used to connect and access the Web. These does not however, include mobile phones and other small screen devices.
Moving ahead, it should be noted that the above data for iOS market includes only those accessed by iPad and not through other devices such as iPhone or iPod Touch. This was verified by Statcounter, for making sure that what have been said above was definitely true.
What is interesting to note from the chart above is that, iOS for iPad has surpassed Linux as a desktop Operating System. In reality, it actually passed Linux somewhere around December, 2010. This should tell you guys that how fast is iPad catching on in this world. The iPad was launched just back in April, 2010, and since then has shown enormous growth response.
For other countries, other than United States, the figures are given below:
- In the United Kingdom, iPad’s iOS makes up 0.94%, versus 0.74% for Linux.
- In the Netherlands, iPad’s iOS makes up 1.16%, versus 0.81% for Linux.
- In Australia, iPad’s iOS makes up 1.19%, versus 0.66% for Linux.
- In Canada, iPad’s iOS makes up 0.91%, versus 0.76% for Linux.
The graph below, again taken from Statcounter, shows how fast did iPad reach these levels of growth. The graph shows the iPad’s ““desktop OS market share” on a month by month basis.
What can we all say from such figures – We can definitely say that Apple’s small tablet is very popular these days. And all this popularity is made by the device in just one year after it’s launch.
