The newest samrtphone from the Nokia stable is the NOKIA N9 which powered by MeeGo. This phone is certainly high class as the price tag of approx. INR 29,900 indicates. It can be a straight answer to the iPhone 4S and other Android high end ones. The hardware, OS and the preloaded apps are all well integrated that provides some quality to the phone.
Also, there are things like the responsiveness of the touch screen, the nifty swiping features and the smooth curves of the phone, the camera, the navigation and the ‘Drive’ application. These and many more features add up to make a good phone. But is it good enough? That can only be answered if they can justify the price tag.
The app space on Nokia is also soon drying up which is surely a cause for concern. Other worries include a poorly designed web browser that isn’t so handy and a serious lack of small but fun-if-you-have features.
Now, the two biggest reasons why you may not want to buy this phone is that:
a) it’s priced very highly and Nokia thinks that its path breaking technology but honestly, its not
b) the Nokia App store is short of good apps. Apart from the general navigation and social networking apps, there is hardly anything to be happy about.
The major reason why the applications with Nokia are not replenishing is that the developers are still figuring out how to work with the cross-platform framework Qt and how to port current apps to the MeeGo platform.
All said and done, if you get your hands to this phone you would surely like to play with it for a while but once you get to know that better choices are available for the same price tag you might want to rethink.
