After the announcement of the Indian Union Budget, there has been increase in price of most of the products in India. Audi is not far behind in this race of price increase.
Audi India has recently announced price increase across all it’s model. The announcement came within a week after the announcement of the 2012 Union Budget. Audi which are locally made will have an increase in price from 3.4 percent to 3.7 percent. Those cars which come to India in the form of fully built units (FBU) would now be available after a price hike of 13 to 14 percent.
In the budget 2012, there was an increase in the custom duties for FBU models from 60 to 75 percent. Now the Audi A7 Sportback starting model would be available from price range of Rs 66.04 lakh. The RS5 model of Audi would be available from a price starting from Rs 85.95 lakh. The earlier price of these two models were 64 lakh and 76 lakh respectively. All these prices which are quoted above are the price taken at ex-showroom in New Delhi, India.
The Audi A4 which are manufactured locally, now are available from a starting price of Rs 30.60 lakh. Previous to the price hike, the Audi A4 was available from a starting price of Rs 27.69 lakh. Michael Perschke, who is the head of Audi India said that, “We have re-evaluated our pricing strategy in India and have increased the prices of all products. However, we are still confident of achieving our sales target of 7500-8000 cars at the end of 2012.”
From the financial year 2012, not only Audi but almost all the car companies are planning to increase the price of their cars due to increase in taxes which was stated in this year financial budget.
