Samsung is quite happy with the way it’s pre orders are placed for the Galaxy S II. It has already passed the Apple iPhone 4 pre-order figures and took over 200,000 pre-orders across all the three major Korean carriers. These orders were placed between Monday of last week and the launch on Friday.
Of the total pre-orders, 100,000 orders were made within the first 29 minutes and by the time it reached 64 minutes, the orders had already doubled. Of the 200,000 about 160,000 were at SK Telecom which is the country’s largest carrier.
This rise in the number of Samsung Galaxy S II is a very motivational figure for the company. Last August, when the results blew past that of Apple’s iPhone 4 pre-orders, it showed a relatively high potential growth comparable to that of iPhone 4. It also is now seen as a major threat to Apple products and the Samsung fans are very happy and excited at the moment.
Apple took just half the number of pre-orders as taken by Samsung. One of the reasons for this was that, it had only KT as its single carrier. SK Telecom was added much later in March. In coming days, Apple is yet to launch any of it’s iPhone on more than one Korean carrier at the same time.
Samsung has great plans for Galaxy S II worldwide. It plans to sell about 10 million of these phones in the year 2011. Apple has already sold more than 18.65 million iPhones in just the winter. There is a tough competition among both the companies. In these times it won’t be surprising if a third company launches such a phone as to give beating to these two.
