Sony has decided to end Sony Ericsson and pave way for Sony Communications. Sony has decided to buy all the shares of Ericsson and thus become single entity in the mobile market. And all the formalities regarding the same have even been completed and Ericsson is now out of the picture.
It was announced in October of 2011 that Sony wants to buy all the stakes from Ericsson to single handedly run the company. It was reported that Sony Ericsson will drop “Ericsson” by mid of 2012. 50% stake of Ericsson from Sony Ericsson has now been taken over by Sony and from now on the mobile division of Sony would be called as “Sony Communications”.
Sony Ericsson is one of the leading companies of the world if we talk about the mobile phone companies of the world. It’s Cyber-Shot and Walkman range is loved by millions of fans throughout the world. But the company wasn’t doing well from the past two years. One of the reasons for poor performance was the complete shift to the smartphones.
In 2012, the company wants to introduce new range of smartphones. It has already introduced the Xperia S in the market which was well received by the end customer. Let us see what Sony has to offer in rest of the year 2012. Let us hope that Sony would make a comeback with phones similar to Xperia which would ultimately help the company gain market share.
