Sony Launched its star smartphone Sony Xperia S in India, last month. Along with Sony Xperia S, the company also launched a range of slightly lower end devices. This range of smaller devices included Sony Xperia P.
Sony Xperia P is all set to be made available from May 26, 2012 across India. There are many retailers such as Infibeam, that would set the device on their retail store from May 26th onwards. The price for new Sony Xperia P is set at Rs 25,500.
Sony Xperia P is a mobile smartphone that has 4 inch TFT screen display. The mobile is based on Sony’s mobile BRAVIA technology and has a qHD resolution of 960 x 540 pixels. It has a RAM of 1 GB and is equipped with a dual core processor of 1GHz clock speed. The camera that comes along with the device is a 8 mega pixel camera and can shoot video of 1080p. The camera is also equipped with sweep panorama capabilities.
The Sony Xperia P has an internal storage of 16 GB. But, there is no support for external memory card. This can be considered as one of it’s big disadvantages. In terms of Operating System, the device runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Sony has promised that there would be an update to Android 4.0 Ice cream Sandwich.
It was only last week that Sony launched – the Xperia U and Xperia Sola. This move by Sony would hit the market share of Samsung in the price range of Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000 segment. This segment currently dominates the smartphone market in India.
