Blackberry Torch 9860 gives a great first impression. Wonder why RIM named the device as Torch when the phone clearly follows the ‘Storm’ format. Like 9900 the hardware built quality is quite good. The buttons on the front are different and new in comparison to the recessed soft touch ones we have had in the past. It has a curve at the back and it feels great to hold the phone. The phone is quite responsiveness, the one every Blackberry consumer would expect. It has the best ever on-screen keyboard on a Blackberry phone but not better than the Windows Phone 7 keyboard.
Blackberry Torch 9860 is loaded with OS7 but lacks the OS7 applications available on the Appstore. Using apps meant for an older platform cause problems with the device. It has a great screen but still fails to challenge the quality of iPhone 4.
The device includes all the other regular Blackberry features. It is a great device but its price, which is Rs. 28,490, places it in the range of iPhone 4 and flagship Android phones such as EVO 3D and Optimus 3D. The phone loses its luster in the competition and hence ends up being disappointing. RIM needs to pull its socks and that too quickly as working with Blackberry since last 6 years it has produced PlayBook, Bold 9900 and now Torch 9860, which have all been disappointing.
