Toyota’s hybrid cars – Toyota Prius Plug-In is out and can be yours for the taking. You just need to shed around US $40,000 for this piece of vehicle excluding any costs related to dealer mark ups.
According to Toyota, 2012 base model would be costing around US $32,000 while the “Advanced” version of the same car would come at a cost of US $39,525. It is expected that Advanced version of the car will make up the bulk of the starting batch of cars. Even the dealers are getting more count of Advanced car rather than the base model of the car.
Both the models of the car will qualify you for a federal tax credit of US $2500.
According to Toyota, Prius Plug-in Hybrid car will get what is equivalent to 49 MPG in the Hybrid mode and equivalent to 87 MPG in the electric mode. The car would be running on a 4.4kWh battery which is a Lithium – ion (Li-ion) battery. The battery could be charged within a time frame of 3 hours with the help of voltage supply of 120 volt outlet.
There was no information provided by Toyota on the range in battery mode in the car. If you like to compare hypothetically, keeping Chevy Volt 16 kWh and 37 mile as the picked up standard, then Prius electric world would range only upto 10 to 12 miles and not more than that. Some of the reviews are betting on getting it up to a range of 15 miles.
The price of regular non-plug-in Prius is US $22,120. Upcoming model of Prius V Two would carry a MSRP of US $26,400. The price for Prius V Three model is US $27,165 while that of Prius V Five model is US $29,990.
