Yelp, which is a user review and search service is on a high speed growth. It has recently reached a milestone of 20 million reviews. In order to make the moment special and memorable, Yelp created an infographic (which is shown below) representing a heat map generated by all the user submissions across all of the United States.
The reason for much of the growth of Yelp is that there is comparatively less competition in which it operates. Companies like Google, Groupon and LivingSocial are great companies if you consider the dimensions of local space. But Yelp is into the dimensions of reviews business, where these players are negligible which allows Yelp for explosive massive growth.
By the end of 2010, the company already had 15 million reviews on its name. As reported by the company, this year, as on July 2011, it reached a milestone of 20 million reviews. According to Yelp, it had a reach of 53 million unique visitors per month. The company is estimated to cross the benchmark figure of 24 million reviews in 2011.
The website is up and is growing day in and day out. As the number of review grows, it makes the website more and more powerful. For the days ahead, Yelp will have created so much advantage for itself due to the strong inventory of reviews that it has.
