Now VLC Media Player For Android

We have been so used to VLC media player that we just don’t realise its potential and power. It is effectively one of the most powerful media players of al times.

We are pretty sure that almost all of you must have heard about the VLC media player. It is a media player capable of playing media files across platforms. It is already available for platforms such as Linux, Windows, Mac and iPhone.

Now, VLC is being developed for Android platforms. It has already entered the Pre-Alpha stage.

VLC is such a player that supports almost every video format out there in the world including audio files. It also detects automatically media files that are present on your SDcard. VLC media player is available for iOS on app store. It was in development phase from a long time and now alpha build version of VLC is finally available for download.

The alpha version which is available for download is still in the development phase, but still you can download it and get a feel of what it is like using VLC in Android. This version eats up a lot of battery power, is buggy and not very stable.

As of now, there are two versions of VLC available currently – Neon and Non-Neon. The Neon version of VLC can be used only with the neon based processors. For other processors, which are not Neon based, Non-Neon version of VLC would be working fine.

To find out whether your processor is Neon based or not, just follow what is written next. You can check if your processor is Neon based or not by searching for a file called “cpuinfo” which is located inside the folder proc. You can use root explorer to find out the location of this file. After searching for this file, simply search for neon inside the file. If you find neon then your processor supports neon, but if you are unable to find neon, then your processor does not support neon and you need to download Non-Neon version of VLC player.
