How to Install Mac OS X Lion the Easy Way

So all the Apple users are now trying to get their hands to the new Mac OS X Lion. Many of you might already have it but since it is available entirely only on Mac App Store, the “clean install” option is not yet present.

Now if you want to be able to install the X Lion OS now without any hassles then just read along:

1)      Download X Lion from the Mac App Store.

This is a 4 GB download file so it might take some time and as soon as it’s done just exit out of the installation prompt because we don’t want to install it straight away.

2)      Find the Install Lion App in the Finder (it must be in the applications folder):

3)      Right Click on the Installer; Select “Show Package Contents”.

Select the show package content option and explore the Shared Support folder inside contents and look for a file by the name “InstallESD.dmg”. The bootable Lion image will be created using this file. Copy this file to an easily accessible spot on your computer.

4)      Initiate Disk Utility:

Form the Utility folder in Applications open Disk Utility. Now you should connect the empty USB drive or find an empty portion in your hard drive.

5)      Insert a Blank DVD:

Now if you want to get it on a CD then just put it in the drive and burn on it the “InstallESD.dmg” file that you just copied.

6)      Select the USB Drive that You Want to Use:

Select the bootable USB drive if you want it there and in the source menu just select the InstallESD.dmg file. Now just chose a destination you want on your drive and make sure that nothing important is there on it since it will hold only the Lion OS and rest all will be erased. Click Restore.
