Team India under M S Dhoni wins the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.
A very proud and special moment for India and every Indian.
India is the Cricket World Cup 2011 Champion. India defeated Sri lanka to Win the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011. This world Cup came to India after 28 years. India won the previous world cup in 1983, at Lords, with Kapil Dev as their captain.
This time, the venue was Mumbai, India and the event was Cricket World Cup 2011 finals played on 2nd April, 2011. India won the match against Sri Lanka. The captain of India M S Dhoni was absolutely thrilled at the moment and why will he not be. It was his moment that he will cherish for this whole life.
Sri Lanka batted first and put up a total of 274 runs for 6 wickets. The target for India was 275 runs. India did not get early good start and lost early wickets. But the innings was held tight by Gautam Gambhir and M S Dhoni himself and finally India won the final by 6 wickets.
India finally won the cup and the Indian team is absolutely delighted by having won the cup in their own home country. One man that was very very proud was Sachin Tendulkar. “It was a dream come True “ for Sachin Tendulkar.
Other plays like Virat Kholi said (About Sachin Tendulkar) – “He(Sachin) carried the burden of the country for past 21 years, it’s our responsibility to carry his burden”
According to Navjot Singh Sidhu – “He (M S Dhoni) is Greatest of the Indian Captain”.
The next world cup is to be held in 2015 in Australia and New Zeland. Hope, that history repeats itself and India wins the cup even next time.
