Laptops That Could Be Powered By Typing – Soon

There is a group of researchers in Australia that believe that they have found a way to use the energy that we use while typing to power a laptop.

According to the researchers, this is possible due to piezoelectricity. It is the same way that is used to cigarette lighters that create a spark by striking a piezoelectric crystal.

For the purpose of laptop, a thinner and more fine film of piezoelectric material have to be developed using the methods of nanotechnology. The film would be so thin that it could easily be coated onto various electronic parts and could be integrated into a host of new gadgets.

Madhu Bhaskaran, who is co-author to the study said, “The power of piezoelectrics could be integrated into running shoes to charge mobile phones, enable laptops to be powered through typing or even used to convert blood pressure into a power source for pacemakers — essentially creating an everlasting battery.”

With this technology being successful, it would open up the world of everlasting battery. Many scientists are also trying to discover ways to power touchscreen devices using the same piezoelectric film.

This is a very innovative idea and it would certainly bring a lot of changes in the way we work, if such a device becomes successful. It could lead us into the world where there is perennial battery power.

Let’s hope to see such devices in the near future.
