Samsung and Verizon Come Up With a 4G Tablet PC

The first 4G tablet PC will be launched tomorrow and it is the 4G Galaxy Tab 10.1. its an LTE equipped model and its brought to you by Verizon. So if you were waiting to buy a good high-tech Tab, here it is. Although there were speculations that Motorola’s Xoom will be the first one to come up with 4G, Samsung has pipped Motorola at this. This technology is very fast with download speeds of up to 12 mbps.

Following are four things you should know before you make any decision about buying it:

1)      Price:

The pricing part of any tablet PC in the market seems to be decided based on the price of the iPad and this one is no exception. The 16 GB Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be available for $529 and 32 GB will be for $629 but it has 4G as compared to 3G in equivalent iPads. Also the contract with Verizon will be costlier by $5 a month as compared to the contract with AT&T.

2)      Honeycomb:

This new gadget is also equipped with tablet suited Android 3.1 like many in its category but it would have been better if it had the latest version- Android 3.2- that fixes some bugs and has more features.  That said, with the advancement in Android space you may never know when the Galaxy Tab 10.1 may get an upgrade.

3)      Adobe Flash:

It is probably the first tablet PC equipped with Flash so if this is an important feature to you then I guess this Tab is best suited for you.

4)      Tradeoffs:

Now the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is so similar to the iPad2 that Apple is legally alleging Samsung of copying its design. So that means that the Galaxy10.1 is thin and light. After making it look so good the guys at Samsung had to compromise on functionality so they removed the ports except obviously the docking/charging port.

So this new tablet looks cool and is very tempting considering its features but the only hiccup is its contractual bond and the cost of that bond. So take your decision and tell us if we were able to help.
